New website

The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) Athletes’ commission (AC) is delighted to share our new web page with you. This refreshed version has all the relevant information about your commission, such as our strategic plan, our roles and responsibilities, key resources and ways to get involved. The page refresh, combined with an Insider article and a boost in our Twitter activity are a few actions that we have taken to increase the awareness and reach of the COC AC.

Welcoming new members

This January, our commission appointed two new members to better represent the voice of Team Canada Olympians. We are very pleased to welcome Diana Matheson OLY, a member of the Canadian women’s soccer team and advocate of players rights with her player’s association. We believe Diana’s background and expertise can add great value to our commission. We also welcomed Hugues Fournel OLY, a recently retired canoe-kayak sprint athlete. Hugues last competed in Rio 2016 before shifting his focus to mentoring young athletes and to running an outdoor center in Quebec City. We are delighted to have him back in the system in this new role and know that his communication and marketing knowledge are a great asset for our team.

Marketing and partnerships

The AC marketing and partnerships leads have been collaborating with COC Corporate Partners, always looking for ways to add value and to share key messaging around  partner initiatives. Most recently, we have shared content on RBC Training Ground and Bell Let’s Talk Day – we encourage all Olympians to spread the news on these as well as many other partner initiatives with your networks. We’d also be remiss not to congratulate the COC marketing and partnerships team as well as all Team Canada Olympians and staff who helped Team Canada win the “Property of the Year” award at the Sponsorship and Marketing Council Canada last month!
