Biography

My professional life straddles the worlds of sport, business and academia. A PhD specializing in English and Communications, in addition to an MA and an MBA, I won medals in synchronized (artistic) swimming at the Olympic Games, Pan American Games, Commonwealth Games and World Championships. In 2004, I launched Clearday, my own communications coaching consultancy, combining my appreciation of effective business coaching techniques, and keen understanding of teaming, performance management, and communications, to help corporate leaders and their organizations achieve their full potential. I dedicate my volunteer life to serving sport in a variety of ways. In the past, I served as President of AthletesCAN, and currently serve as President of Commonwealth Sport Canada.

Why do I want to be a member of the OLY Canada Commission?

As President of OLY Canada over the past four years, I’ve had the honour of serving our extraordinary community of Olympians from coast to coast to coast. Over my past term, I’ve worked to strengthen the ties between Canadian Olympians and the Olympic movement, creating more opportunities for us to gather, celebrate, and reignite our connection to the values that shape us. I’m eager to continue this work in a second term — championing initiatives that ensure Olympians feel valued, visible, and inspired to carry the Olympic spirit into their post-Games lives and communities. I believe strongly that our Olympic journey doesn’t end when the flame goes out. Our stories, milestones, and values can continue to shape communities and inspire future generations — but only if we create the spaces and support to do so. That’s why I’m committed to expanding Olympic anniversary celebrations, spotlighting OLYs at every stage of life, and creating new ways to bring Olympians together. I’m especially proud of our sixth successful year of the OLY Canada Legacy Grant, which supports Olympians who are using their unique platform to give back and make a meaningful difference in their communities. In the next term, I want to grow the reach and impact of this grant so that even more OLYs can lead initiatives that reflect the best of what the Olympic movement stands for. One of the moments that will stay with me forever was standing with a group of first-time Olympians in Paris in 2024, just days after their events had ended. The energy in the room was electric — pride, relief, wonder, and a growing sense of purpose. We celebrated not only what they had just accomplished, but also what lay ahead: a lifetime of potential to keep living and sharing the Olympic values. That moment reminded me why this work matters. I’m running for another term because I believe in the power of those moments — and in the legacy we’re building, together.
