Biography
Hi! I am Kierra Smith, two time Olympic swimmer who proudly represented Canada at the Rio, 2016 and Tokyo 2020 games. I am from British Columbia and currently live and work in Kelowna as a real estate agent. I am still involved in the sport of swimming, I train with masters And I’m on the board of the Kelowna AquaJets swim club. My experience as an athlete shaped how I advocate and connect with others. I am passionate about supporting the next generation of athletes and ensuring their voices are represented at every level of our sports system. I would be honored to contribute to the Canadian Olympic committee in a meaningful way through this.
Why do I want to be a member of the OLY Canada Commission?
I would like to be a member of the OLY Canada commission, because I believe in the power of the Olympic community beyond Competition. As an athlete, I experienced first hand, the support pressure and pride that comes with wearing the maple leaf, and I know how important it is to have representation and advocacy at every stage of the journey. Now as a business owner mother and retired athlete I see how much value Olympians can bring to each other into Canada’s sport system. I want to be a part of shaping what legacy looks like for athletes after retirement and during their career as well. I care about the visibility of Olympians in Canada and I’m ready to help build a connected forward thinking community.
